Enjoy complete tranquillity in our newly renovated, 18th century stone farmhouse located in the small, unspoilt village of Rocallaura in the centre of Catalunya’s wine and olive growing region. The house, Can Sulo, is divided into fully-equipped, self-contained apartments constructed over four floors all with stunning views over the valley. In addition to the beautifully restored apartments there are some sympathetically refurbished communal areas for our guests to enjoy and relax in. The first is a large barn with a bar area and fireplace where you can enjoy an aperitif before dinner or a coffee after breakfast. The vaulted stone wine cellar in the basement provides an opportunity to sample local wines and gives a flavour of the history of the building and its surrounding area. Just outside the wine cellar you will find the Roman-style swimming pool where you can take a quick dip to cool off in the summer and leaving the swimming pool via a stone arch you enter the walled garden surrounded by beautiful views.
Rocallaura is a small, traditional village in the Catalan countryside famous for the healing properties of its spring water. The people of the village have managed to maintain their rural lifestyle which is largely dependent on the small-scale farming of olives and almonds. This provides our guests with an opportunity to experience a completely different way of life which has been lost throughout most of Europe. Rocallaura is on ‘La Ruta del Cister’, an important historic route which links three 12th century Cistercian monasteries which have played a significant part in the cultural history of Catalunya. They all have daily opening times for visitors.
Just a short stroll from the village centre is a recently opened 4 star Spa Hotel and guests at Can Sulo are able to use both the Spa facilities and Hotel restaurant at a specially discounted rate.
